Intermittent fasting, often referred to as IF, works on the basis that you only eat during a certain time window. So, for example, some people might choose to only eat from 3pm-11pm. Some might choose to eat from 5pm-9pm etc.
Intermittent fasting is a great way to speed up fat loss, if you wake up at 6AM and don’t eat until 2PM, your body is going to be burning a ton of calories during that time. Another great benefit to intermittent fasting is the fact that there are calories to make up for, since you aren’t eating earlier in the day you have to eat a lot later, meaning you can pig out on some of your favorite foods and have an epic meal to look forward to!… Just don’t overdo it!
Lets be honest, the vast majority of people hate cardio with a passion, however unfortunately it is a key component to maximizing fat loss. If regular cardio is not for you but you still want to ramp up the fat loss with a form of cardio we recommend incorporating High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) into your routine.
An example of a HIIT cardio routine would be:
Warm up for 3-5 minutes
Go all out for 30 seconds
Go slowly for a minute and a half
Repeat this process of going all out for 30 seconds and resting for a minute and a half between 6-8 times.
One of the the best ways to ramp up your metabolism and burn fat fast is to build muscle by lifting weights. Muscle is catabolic, meaning it burns calories even when it's not doing anything, so basically the more muscle you have the more calories you burn without lifting a finger! Another amazing benefit to adding strength training into your routine is the fact that it has what is known as high EPOC or "Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption." This in simpler terms means your metabolism is elevated post exercise.
If you don't already, incorporate some weight training into your routine. This will do wonders for your physique and in turn help you to build muscle and speed up fat loss. (The Perfect Combo!)
Workout boredom is a common culprit to slow progress, and is one of the most common reasons why people stop training all together. To ensure your progress stays on track make sure you mix up your routine now and then, you don’t need to make drastic changes each week, just mix it up a little once or twice a month to ensure you stay motivated, also don’t be afraid to try new exercises!
Another advantage to mixing up your workout routine is the fact that it keeps your body guessing and ensures you don’t begin to plateau, continuously challenging your body is a sure fire way to make sure your fat loss progress remains on track!
